The Deputies of the Jathithalaivan
It is the Jathithalaivan who appoints deputies in every important town and village where the Paravas are found, to look after the general welfare of the community. The deputies are selected by the people of each place for appointment. The main object of appointing the deputies is to support the Roman Catholic religion and to strengthen and confirm the people in their faith by preventing leakage. There are three classes of deputies. Viz:-
- Pattankattys
- Adappans and
- Moopans
The Pattankatys are appointed in the following coastal towns:-
