திருவணைப் பாறை
தீந்தமிழ் நாட்டின் தென் எல்லை பதாகை...!
அமிழ்ந்து போன அமிழ்துலகின்
அழியாத மிச்ச பருக்கை...,
நாலாம் திணை பரதவர் வாழ்வோடு
நடந்து வந்த வரலாற்று உயர்திணை...!
கடலோடு கடல்மறவர் யாம் - இந்த
கரை தொட்ட நாள் முதலே....
குமரி பரதவர் எம்மை
சூறாவளியென்ன...?சுனாமியென்ன...?
கல்லணையாய் காத்து நிற்க்கும்
எங்கள் திருவணை...!
எந்தையும்
என் பாட்டனும், – அவர்தமது மூதாதையரும்.
மீன் பிடித்து, வலை உலர்த்தி,
மூச்சு நிறுத்தி முத்துக் குளித்து,
சிப்பி பறித்து, மூரை உடைத்து,
உண்டு களித்து, உறங்கிய இடம்...!
இங்கேதான்.......
மலை உடைக்கும் அலை எதிர்த்து - நானும்
மடிக்கு வாரேன் என மல்லுக்கட்டும் பரதவன் மகனை
திருவணைக்கு நீந்திக் காட்டு என
தகுதித் திறம் வளர்த்த....குமரி பரதவரின்
பாரம்பரிய பயிற்சிக் கள மைதானம்.
இதுவேதான்......
பரதவர் எம் விழாக் காலங்களில்....
உறவுகளோடு கடலோடி; இந்த
பாறையில் ஏறி விளையாடி;
சமைத்து உண்டு உரையாடி;
மகிழ்ந்து கிடந்தோம் உறவாடி.
இது மட்டுமல்ல......?
இந்த திருவணைப் பாறைதான் - குமரி
கிருத்துவ பரதரின் கல்வாரிப் பாறை....?
கிருத்துவம் அழிக்க வந்த,
படுகரின் படை எதிர்த்து - வதைபட்ட
பரதவரின் குருதி கலந்த பாறை இது;
அலைவாய் நடுவே சிறைப் பட்டு;
அன்னம், தண்ணி, ஆகாரமின்றி;
பசியாலும், பட்டினியாலும், பரிதவித்து;
அலறி புலம்பிய பரத்திகளின்,
அழுத கண்ணீர் ஆற்றாலே....
கழுவப்பட்ட பாறை இது;
அவலச் செய்தி கேட்டு,
அலை கிழித்து சீறி பாய்ந்து
பரதவரின் புனிதர் சவேரியாரும்,
பரதவ தலைவரும், பட்டங்கட்டிகளும்;
பாய்மர படையோடு பாறையில் இறங்கினர்;
பரதவர் நிலை கண்டு கலங்கித் துடித்தனர்....?
ஆன்மீகத்தால் பரதவரை அடக்கிய புனிதரே......!
ஆத்திரம் கொண்டே ஆணையிட்டார் – இந்த
திருவணைப் பாறையில் நின்றே........

புனிதரே புயலாய் மாறிய போது....?
வாளெடுத்த பரதர் கூட்டம்
வடுகரை விரட்டி, விரட்டி, வேட்டையாடியது;
ஆரல் கணவாயில் வைத்து,
சுற்றி வளைத்து சூறையாடியது;
பாதக படுகரின் தலைகளை கொய்து வந்து.....
பரத்திகளின் பாதங்களுக்கு காணிக்கை ஆக்கியது.....!
இவ்விதம்...
படுகரின் பகைக்கு முடிவுரை எழுதி,
பரதவரின் ஒற்றுமைக்கு தெளிவுரை காட்டி,
பரதவர் என்ற உயிர் பயத்தை
பகைவருக்கு மீண்டும் விளக்கமாக்கி,
பகை வென்றாடிய பரதவரின் பாறை இது....!
அதனாலே...! அன்றே...! அப்போதே...! திருவணையில்
திருச்சிலுவையை சவேரியார் நாட்டி வைக்க -அன்றிருந்து
சிலுவை பாறையாய் திருவணை காட்சி தந்தது....!
புனித வெள்ளி துக்கத்திலும்,
இயேசு பிறப்பு கொண்டாட்டத்திலும்,
திருவணைப்பாறை ஓர் அங்கமானது...!
அப்படியொரு கிறிஸ்துமஸ் கொண்டாட்டத்தில்
பரதவரோடு படகிலேறி பாறைக்கு சென்ற ஓர் துறவி
பாறைக்கு சொந்தக்காரர் என
பின்னாளில் அரசாங்கமே ஆணையிட்டு சொன்னது
அப்போதுதான் குமரி பரதவர் எமக்கு தெரிந்தது - இது
விவேகானந்தரின் பாறையாம் என்று
மீன்பாடு வற்றிய காலத்திலும் - எம்
வயித்துபாடுக்கு வகை செய்த பாறை;
படுகரிடமிருந்து பாதுகாத்து எம்
பரம்பரையை வளர்த்த பாறை; - எங்கள்
வாழ்வோடும், வளமோடும்;
இன்பத்தோடும், துன்பத்தோடும்;
ஒன்றர கலந்து உறவான பாறை...!
இந்த திருவணை என்னும் பரதவரின்
பாரம்பரிய சுவட்டின் நினைவுகளை;
கல்லை கட்டி கடலில் ஆழ்த்தி,
புதிய வரலாறாய் அதன் மீது
வீர துறவியாம் விவேகானந்தருக்கும்,
தெய்வ புலவர் வள்ளுவனாருக்கும்,
நினைவுச் சின்னங்களை எழுப்பி விட்டார்
இன்று எங்கள் திருவணைக்கு நித்தம்
ஓராயிரம் பேர் வந்து போனாலும்...?
அதன் மடி பிள்ளைகள் நாங்கள்
கனவாய் போன உறவை எண்ணி
கனத்துப் போன இதயத்தோடு
தூரத்தே நின்று தரிசிக்கின்றோம்.......

My dearest Brother in Jesus Christ,
On Tuesday last I came back to Munahpaud, and God our Lord knows what I have gone through in my voyage. I had set off with twenty tones to comfort the Christians whom the Badages have driven into flight, who, as I was told, were dying miserably of hunger and thirst amongst the rocks which bound the shores of Cape Comorin ;
but I met with strong winds from the opposite quarter, and neither by rowing nor by towing could we make head against the sea, and I was not able once to get a single vessel to the Cape. If these winds fall, I shall go there again to take what relief I can to these poor creatures in their extreme distress ; for a man must be harder than iron if he could give up making all efforts in his power to relieve the miserable case of these people, who are our brethren in the worship of Christ a case I really think the most calamitous that can be found anywhere. Many of the fugitives arrive every day at Munahpaud without clothing, nearly dead with hunger, and destitute of everything. I am writing to the Patangatins of Combutur, of Punical, and of Tuticorin, to collect for them some little alms, and get them sent to us : but bidding them, however, to exact nothing from the poor, but simply to ask the captains of vessels, and others who have some means, of their own free will to contribute to so pious a work.
(2)Vivekananda Rock Memorial (From Wikipedia,)
In January 1962, on the occasion of Swami Vivekananda’s birth centenary, a group of people formed the Kanyakumari Committee whose objective was to put up a memorial on the rock and a pedestrian bridge leading to the rock. Almost simultaneously, the Ramakrishna Mission in Madras planned about this memorial
However, this news was not taken in good taste by a sizable population of the local Catholic fishermen. They put up a big Cross on the Rock, visible from the shore.
This led to protests by the Hindu population who said the Rock was a place of worship for Hindus. A judicial probe ordered by the Madras (now Tamil Nadu) government stated in unequivocal terms that the rock was Vivekananda Rock, and that the Cross was a trespass. Amid all this acrimony, the Cross was removed secretly in the night. The situation turned volatile and the Rock was declared a prohibited area with armed guards patrolling it.
The Government realised that the Rock was turning into an area of dispute with Hindus claiming it to be the Vivekananda Rock and Christians that it was St. Xavier’s Rock. It decreed that although the rock was Vivekananda Rock, there would be no memorial constructed on it. The then Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu,
Shri M. Bhaktavatsalam, said that only a tablet declaring that the rock was associated with Swami Vivekananda could be put up, and nothing else. With government permission, the tablet was installed on the Rock on 17 January 1963.
